- Epiphone also began selling amplifiers after meeting electronics enthusiast Nat Daniel, a friend of Les Paul's. Daniel perfected an innovative push/pull wiring design, which today is a fixture in many amplifiers. Epiphone reps heard Daniel's amps and hired him to build chassis as well as new designs.

Epiphone is an American musical instrument manufacturer founded in 1873 by Anastasios Stathopoulos, currently based in Nashville, Tennessee.In 1957, Epiphone, Inc. Was purchased by Gibson and relocated from New York to Kalamazoo, Michigan.Epiphone was Gibson's main rival in the archtop market prior to 1957. Aside from guitars, Epiphone also made double basses, banjos, and other string instruments. Jul 22, 2014 Epiphone Les Paul made in Korea Sam Pedneau. Unsubscribe from Sam Pedneau? Okay, need to know a few things first;
* What is you question?
* Who is the manufacturer? Epiphone?
* What is the exact model name or model number? 1959?

The serial number indicates (if it's an Epiphone) that the guitar was made at a factory (serial number prefix 'A') not yet added to the database in October 1990 with a Production Number of 0148.

I'm sorry kcbuck,
But I'm only post box?. The matter of fact is that my friend look after any additional detailed information for this guitar, not the obvious one. He think that may be 'Greco' or some unique edition but the only information is what you see on the pictures above: Serial, manifacture country and on the face of the head big 1959 -that's all.I told him that you help me to find my Fender story and here am I again.

About the only thing you can do is try various inter-net word searchs for 'Les Paul 1959' with various manufacturers that you think may of made the guitar. Once you know the manufacturer, I may be able to assist you.
Good Luck,

Also you may want to remove the neck and cover plates to see if the manufacturers name is in there some where....

Just knowing the serial number and style of guitar it is very difficult to identify the manufacturer.... and gather the information you want.

In 1959, Korea was just getting over a nasty war. I'm positive as possible when I tell you that NO GUITARS were made in Korea in 1959...ESPECIALLY Gibson Les Pauls. Epiphone ('by Gibson'), on the other hand, and Squire ('by Fender'), are made in South Korea and have been for awhile, but not since 1959. North Korea doesn't have ANY jobs in the manufacturing sector, unless you consider clandestine chemical weapons laboratories as part of the manufacturing sector.

I agree with your opinion on this Guitarzan, as the first Epiphone Les Paul models started in 1986 and that was the Les Paul 1 model.

It's a Tokai Les Paul knock-off, made in Korea in ~2003.
Worth $550 on eBay.
The made in Japan models go for twice as much, for some reason.

Coodo's Sparky.... I did look up Tokai in the Blue Book and they do have a 'Love Rock Les Paul - Style' listed and it was produced in the Cherry Sunburst finish along with others. They were copies of the Les Paul 1958 through 1960 models and were made from the 1970's through the 1980's. They are valued at;
Mint 98%: $750.00 USD
Exc+ 95%: $600.00 USD
Exc 90%: $475.00 USD
VG+ 80%: $375.00 USD
VG 70%: $ 300.00 USD
Well within Mr. Sparky's estimate based upon ebay, good job.
Hope this helps,

I'm going on a HUGE tangent here but...I don't really care much. I bought a 1957 Gibson J-50 in 'very good' shape you could say. I bought it in my town here from an elderly fella who played in bands in his earlier days. He just wanted to go on a trip and needed the money type thing. As soon as he opened the case up I knew I was going to buy it. It truly sounds beautiful. The strings are a bit high past the fifth fret...not much but a bit. I had the same issue with my bamboo Yamaha FG-B1 and sanded down the saddle about 1/8 inch. Buddy, who repairs guitars mentioned that I might be hitting the frets close to the nut if I did. Saddles are less than $10, so whatever. I sanded down the saddle and it worked. Someone mentioned the truss rod but I'm no guitar tech so forget that. How do you feel about sanding down the saddle? I'm positive that'll work again on this vintage Gibson acoustic. Thanks.

I went to Sudbury back in the mid to late 80's to buy a nice guitar. I saw this Epiphone by Gibson semi-acoustic. It looked almost identical to the guitar John Lennon played on the roof of Abbey Records with the Beatles doing 'Let it Be' stuff. The same colour too. The head had Epiphone by Gibson on it in mother of pearl. The Gibson word was bigger than the Epiphone word for some reason. This was not a Japanese or Korean made Epiphone...I'm pretty sure due to the quality of it. It had two gold chrome soap bar type humbukers on it and really played nice. Was Epiphone guitars ever made in the USA in the mid to late 80's? I ended up selling it for $300 to Omer the pawn shop guy cuz I was...hurting. If I could boot my own ****, I'd do it daily for that mistake. It was/is??? very nice. I paid about $900 with taxes for it brand new. Wish I knew the model of it. I'd try and dig it up someplace. I don't know who Omer sold it to...wish I did.http://d1maw69th2waip.cloudfront.net/components/com_fireboard/template/default/images/english/emoticons/blush.png
